Solar Installer

We are seeking a skilled Solar Installer to join our team installing high-quality residential and light commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. You will work on both roof-mounted and ground-mounted systems, including energy storage solutions using SolarEdge, Tesla, and Duracell equipment. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, mechanically skilled, comfortable working at heights, and takes pride in clean, code-compliant installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar PV systems according to engineered plans, manufacturer specifications, and local codes.
• Assemble and secure racking systems, modules, optimizers (SolarEdge), and mounting hardware.
• Install and wire SolarEdge inverters/optimizers, Tesla Powerwall (or related Tesla energy products), and Duracell Power Center / battery storage systems.
• Run DC and AC wiring, conduit, and make proper terminations per NEC Article 690 and manufacturer guidelines.
• Assist with or perform system commissioning, monitoring setup, and basic troubleshooting.
• Apply proper weather sealing, flashing, and waterproofing on roof penetrations.
• Perform site preparation, layout, cleanup, and leave job sites clean and professional.
• Follow all OSHA safety protocols, including fall protection, ladder safety, and electrical safe work practices.
• Communicate professionally with customers, crew leads, and office staff; report progress and any issues promptly.
• Load/unload materials and help maintain tools and inventory on crew vehicles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience in solar installation, roofing, electrical, or related construction work (preferred).
• Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and uneven terrain; able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to read basic installation plans, single-line diagrams, and follow detailed instructions.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and workmanship standards.
• Willingness to work outdoors in Illinois weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience installing SolarEdge systems (optimizers and inverters).
• Experience with Tesla Powerwall or other battery energy storage systems.
• Experience with Duracell energy storage / hybrid systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• NABCEP PV Associate or PV Installation Professional certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Basic electrical knowledge or experience assisting licensed electricians.
• Familiarity with Illinois codes, permitting, and Illinois Shines / Distributed Generation requirements.
• Previous ground-mount experience.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and working at heights.
• Ability to work full days outdoors in varying weather.
• Occasional heavy lifting and carrying of panels, racking, and equipment.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 80.0 per week
